Homemade Enchilada Sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • tbsp chili powder (more if you like spicy)
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • cups water
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  • heat oil in pan
  • whisk in flour and chili powder
  • add tomato sauce and water
  • add cumin, salt, garlic powder
  • simmer to thicken sauce - around 10 minutes

Notes

Sauce will last 5 days in refrigerator or 2 months in freezer. Add more chili powder to increase spiciness of the sauce.
